Senior Planner – Civil & Infrastructure ProjectsUnify Recruitment are partnering with a major civil infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their growing project controls and delivery team in Sydney.
This is a newly created role driven by continued project wins and a strong forward pipeline across major infrastructure, transport, utilities and civil construction projects. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering complex works across both public and private sector clients and is now looking to strengthen its internal planning capability with a high-performing and commercially astute planner.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior leadership and working closely with project delivery teams, you will play a critical role across both tender and live project environments — developing robust programmes, driving planning discipline and supporting project outcomes through strong analytical and strategic planning capability.
This role will suit an experienced planner who enjoys operating across both precontracts and delivery and has a strong understanding of construction sequencing, programme risk and contractual obligations.
About the Role: - Develop and manage construction programmes across the full project lifecycle from tender through to delivery and handover
- Lead critical path analysis and proactively identify programme risks, constraints and recovery opportunities
- Establish and maintain programme baselines, progress updates, forecasts and recovery programmes
- Undertake delay, disruption and time impact analysis to support EOTs, claims and variations
- Prepare high-quality tender programmes, staging plans and supporting construction methodologies
- Produce professional programme narratives and reporting for tender submissions, client presentations and contractual purposes
- Integrate subcontractor programmes and coordinate multiple concurrent work fronts
- Support project teams with month-end programme updates, reporting and forecasting requirements
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded programmes, commodity curves and “as-constructed” records
- Work collaboratively with project delivery teams to improve programme discipline and reporting capability
- Mentor and coach engineers and delivery teams around planning processes and best practice
About You: - Proven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within civil infrastructure or major construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and project delivery environments
- Demonstrated experience across infrastructure sectors such as transport, utilities, rail, roads, water or major civil works
- Advanced Primavera P6 capability is essential
- Experience with MS Project and/or Asta preferred
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness including delay analysis and EOT processes
- Ability to communicate effectively with operational teams, senior management and clients
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and reporting capability
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and uplift project planning capability across teams
