About the Role:
We are seeking a High Voltage (HV) Design and Commissioning Engineer to join a leading electrical contractor delivering critical infrastructure projects across Australia. This role is ideal for a technically capable engineer with hands-on experience in the design, testing, and commissioning of HV systems on major projects such as data centres, substations, and large-scale industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and documentation of HV electrical systems (11kV – 132kV), ensuring compliance with Australian standards and client requirements
- Oversee the commissioning and testing of HV equipment including transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and SCADA
- Prepare and review single line diagrams, protection settings, test plans, and risk assessments
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure successful delivery of project milestones
- Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases
- Ensure all activities are completed in line with HSEQ policies and industry best practices
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in HV design and commissioning
- Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS2067, and relevant utility standards
- Proficient in using design tools such as AutoCAD, PowerFactory, or ETAP
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Australia as required
- HV Switching qualification (desirable but not essential)
